About the Sangguniang Kabataan
Youth Governance in Our Community
YOUTH GOVERNANCEThe Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) is the youth governing body at the barangay level in the Philippines. It represents young people in local governance and provides them with opportunities to participate in community development and decision-making.
The SK is responsible for developing and implementing programs, projects, and activities for the youth, particularly in areas such as education, health, sports, environment, culture and the arts, leadership, employment, and community participation.
Led by the SK Chairperson together with the SK Council, it manages its own youth development plans and budget while coordinating with the Barangay Government and other agencies. At its core, the SK serves as a bridge between the youth and local government, helping ensure that young people's needs, ideas, and voices are represented in the community.
